Do you know any good way to get money for donations to the poor?

We need to make money for the poor do you have any good ideas (but i don’t want to beg for money)

Have a “yard” sale and ask local business to donate the merchandise they sell. The business gets free advertising and can write off the donations.

One Christmas I just baked cookies and made easy homemade candies for everyone in my huge family. I attached a note saying that I was making a donation to the Heifer Project (it could have been another charity, of course) that year instead of buying gifts and felt I was doing so in everyone “honor.” The best people were really touched and some of them did something similar the next year.
If you belong to a huge group doing this, maybe the group could come up with a “gift” that honors the recipients but doesn’t cost much and combine it with a flyer that asks if they want to add to the contribution made in their honor.
Or hold a fun event with donated (homemade) snacks and invite people to drop by to join the fun and donate a certain amount each to the cause. The invitation could say something like, “We’re having an open house party to chat, play a goofy game or two, sip spiced cider, and raise money for ___________. If each person dropping by can donate $5, our collective contribution can help to __________________. If you can’t come by, you could send a check made out to ______________ and we’ll do the footwork to donate it for you.”
You will, of course, modify that to fit your goals. I’ve learned over the years that when people have fun contributing to a good cause, they are more likely to contribute again on their own.
