How to switch a USPS domestic money order to an international money order?
Posted by admin under: Personal Finance .
I accidentally purchased a USPS domestic money order and the recipient needed an international money order. The Pay To: was filled out with his name and he is sending it back. Will USPS be able to easily change this for me?

Take it back to where you purchased it and ask them to do the switch. Bring your receipt and identification. It should not be a problem to correct the error.

That can be done as long as you have the receipt portion of the Spolied MO. Basically what will happen is that you will endorse and cash out the MO, then use that money to purchase the correct MO.
You may not be able to get an Int’l MO because there are not really a lot of countries that will accept one from USPS.
Your clerk will be able to tell you that.
