How much money is appropriate to give for a college graduation party?

My sister and I are going to our friend’s college graduation party. We both are very good friends with this friend. She is having it at her aunts house. How much money is appropriate to give her?

Not sure what you can afford. I would say $25 up depending on your situation. Or you can give a gift card.

Friends usually don’t give friends cash for a college graduation gift - unless it’s a money tree that everyone is contributing to.
Graduation is one such moment in a person’s life when he or she feels extremely special. It marks the beginning of a new life, a new future and a promising career. A graduate’s hard work should be rewarded with admiration and encouragement. The best way to recognize his or her achievement is by gifting something that will prove useful to him in moving towards the goal of his life and also motivate him to strive ahead. I’d suggest you consider pooling your money and buying a present she can unwrap. Something she would use in her new career will be appreciated more than cash. Examples include: professional grade planner (Franklin Covey or similar brand), stethoscope, leather briefcase, professional quality ink pen, etc.

depends on the party…If its a big party with alcohol and lots of people at least $100.

you should buy a gift if you are friends. Your sister should buy a gift too. Or you pool your money together. I say $50 each for a college graduation gift (at the least, like if you are working part-time and a college student yourself). If you are out in the workforce then college graduation usually merits $100. $50 highschool grad, $25 junior high grad.
