Can I email directly from my Blackberry without having the data plan?

I have a unlocked at&t blackberry 8820 and im using Fido… is there any way for me to email direct from my cell?

you can send messages to your e-mail, but it costs more than a text, I have the cheapest data plan AT&T has $4.99 a month & you can send plenty of e-mails within that plan
