Isn’t it fantastic that Obama signed the anti-smoking bill, considering Geo. Bush didn’t have the guts to do it?

Bush knew it was freedom of choice and left it up to the people. No company take over on his watch. I don’t smoke.

I’m judging Obama by the things he’s done so far and not the things he might do. So far I approve of the things he’s done and I think he’s moving in the right direction.

Yes and no. Smoking is dangerous but so is 95% the bullsh*t that’s put into our food.
This is about politics and not health. Genetic crops, livestock hormone injections, unsafe corn based products, untested medicine, and fast food are ok — but not smoking, yeah let’s stop that right now. Look, there are areas right here in new york where a non-smoker has a 16% higher chance of cancer than a smoker in areas with cleaner air.
Creating a huge black market for tobacco that of course the government and courts will profit on and BILLIONS in tax dollars evaporated overnight. This bill is about money and giving the FDA god-like powers.

I don’t think George Bush did not have the guts to do it. I think he did not want to alienate any of the large corporation and industries that donate generously to the GOP.

How is this helping the economy? Isn’t that what resident Obama needs to be focusing on? He said things would be better by April with the passing of his exhorbatant stimulus plan…

I just hope they will also ban crap like Twinkies, cupcakes, corn syrup, and all that other rubbish that they are allowed to sell in this country. That should be heavily regulated by the FDA, too, as far as I am concerned.

Thousands die needlessly. My mother died of cancer. My friends mother died of lung cancer. Its a horrible way to die very painful. Second hand smoke is just as lethal. Thank Obama for finally helping thousands of innocent people breathe. Not a moment too soon.

Yes, I totally agree. It’s not taking the cigarettes away, it’s just taxing them (we need more money after Bush messed everything up) and making them less addictive. It also makes a bigger graphic label with the Surgeon’s Warning and the pack isn’t aloud to say light or low tar anymore. Is this taking away your freedom? The FDA has controlled food and toothpaste, etc. for many years, did it bother you then?
