are Visa, Master, Discover and American Express some kind of bank or kind of company making money from bank ?

They are “financial companies” that provide this service to Banks in order to provide income to banks and themselves through Merchant Fees! These accounts use a different clearing house from regular passbook accounts – and although each bank has its own ATM Card – most of the ATM cards are embossed by with MC or Visa logo. Discover & American Express are independent companies that provide credit card services.
