How can the US take the moral high-ground on WWII when they left Europe to be ravaged for over 2 years?
Posted by admin under: Politics .
They ignore the cries of the dying in Europe, their motherlands, they offer only tons of money to which they apply interest on and demand it to be paid back up until this very day. They only joined in after they themselves were attacked, never faced the enemy on their soil, yet they like to talk about saving the world as if the Germans faced no resistance until the US came along and those whose populations that were decimated like the French are called wussies! Yes, moral high-ground indeed.
How do Americans have the gall to make such statements as, “We saved you all”? When they didn’t join until the tide of war had already turned?

There are thousands of graves of U.S. soldiers on the very beaches of France to show we didn’t just join the war after the tide had already turned. Europe was in fact a German stronghold right up until D-day.

Your argument is not a winner on this. Sorry buddy, that line of logic is far too erratic.

If it wasnt for Our help, then ****** would have taken over Europe. We chose to not get involved because it wasnt really our problem i guess to begin with and thought It could be handled. But Japan Changed all that when they attacked us so we had to get involved

That was isolationist “Conservatives” by any possible definition of the word, despite whatever revisionist version of history they have probably already written for themselves.

The USSR bore the brunt of World War Two (over 20 million dead). Although the contribution of the USA was welcomed, the fact remains that three quarters of the German armed forces were on the Eastern Front fighting the Russians.

Easy, it was mostly USA the rebuild the entire war ravaged countries of WWII. The USA had the workforce and infrastructure still in place and did the bulk of the financing.
The only true resistance the Germans had was the Russian winter.

The United States was slow to move towards global conflict. No sane person would say that America won the war single handed it would be preposterous. However, you are wrong about the fact of the tide being turned. Even with the United States the allies fought long and hard, Victory was never certain and always hinged on a bit of luck for either side. Generalizations about war are easy after the fact, but battles have been fought and won (or lost) at amazing odds.
The Allies (United States, United Kingdom, Soviet Union, France, Republic of China, etc.) won because of several major reasons including:
In Europe
- Germany and Italy tried to expand their empire too much. After the United States became involved, German and Italian troops were outnumbered and outgunned.
- German U-Boats attack U.S. ships causing Roosevelt to construct a new design of battleships capable of sinking any u-boat. And so they did.
- Germany and Italy could not bomb the U.S. The U.S. could build new ships, weapons, and tanks a lot faster then Germany and Italy could.
In the Pacific
- The Empire of Japan underestimated the United States ability to make war in the Pacific.
- The Japanese couldn’t fight back to any new U.S. battleship or aircraft carrier.
- The Japanese were fighting so many countries in Asia, North America, and the British Commonwealth, they were completely outnumbered and outgunned and couldn’t do anything but just continue fighting until they lost.
For Both
- The Axis Powers were far behing in technological advances. While the United States and the United Kingdom were devloping new weapons, the Axis Powers were building the same weapons.
- The U.S. had come up with a vaccine to cure troops fighting. The Axis Powers didn’t have the vaccine, wo were loosing far more troops then the Allies were.
Japan also lost because it fought on three large scale fronts (China, India, and the pacific).

Pure ignorance and historical revisionism. The fact of the matter is the USSR lost millions upon millions of its citizens fighting on the Eastern Front against the Germans. Blame it on poor equipment (or lack thereof), starvation, terrible strategy, corruption, or bad leadership, but facts are facts: the Russian people bore the brunt of World War II, and some of the most devastating aspects of that war occurred on Russian soil. Is that to say the West had nothing to do with the overall victory? Of course not. But we like to emphasize our role in the War when the Europeans resisted, fought, and ultimately overcame **** dominance. As I recall, my U.S. history class in high school barely mentioned the mass casualties borne by the Soviets, but focused solely on American involvement in the War. Such a one-sided view on history is dangerous – we must explain World War II in a balanced way, not in such a way as to give credit where credit isn’t due. We didn’t carry the burden of isolation and occupation.
