Is Capitalism responsible for so many great inventions from the United States?

There are so many great inventions from the United States. Are people more motivated to work hard if they know they can make money from their inventions? How many great inventions have come from Communist / Socialist countries?

nonactivist: Are you saying that none of the people who invented these things thought “hey, If I can invent this I’ll make a lot of money”? None of them?

No, American ingenuity is responsible for many inventions. Most early Amercian inventors funded their own research, development, and distribution. Capitalism, if used properly, can help with America’s progress, just as most inventors help America progress through their inventions.
As for other nations, the same is true. As for which country has invented more than any other nation, that’s a toss up. Europeans are very inventive. So are the Japanese.
Having capital is not “capitalism” per se. So Capitalism isn’t the cause of “inventiveness.” Ingenuity and need are the basis of inventions. Some royal families have had all the money and riches they could ever want, but a “need” they had encouraged them to be “inventive” for themselves. Candles and candle holders came after torches and torch holders. Each were invented from need not capitalism.

Capitalism is the backbone of this country. If the big boys and girls who make the most money here feel as though they are paying more than their fair share of the taxes they may pack up their toys and go home.

No but they have help the Products Invented to be Produced, Without Capitalism you can’t make Money out of your Invention, and without Ingenuity then whats the Point at all.
I’m telling Capitalism ain’t the Reason for Inventions just the Money Making Part.
